About the Job

As an Executive Protective Agent for the Central Intelligence Agency, you will be part of a team that provides 24/7/365 armed protection for Intelligence Community leaders world-wide. You will serve on teams at foreign and domestic sites, liaise with foreign security officials, operate armored security vehicles, analyze threats in order to modify protective profiles, and utilize issued weapons and equipment.

Executive Protective Agents are required to work weekends, holidays, evenings and overtime under ever-changing conditions. Frequent travel, both domestic and overseas, is required. Agents must be alert and mindful of the implications of their performance and actions in continuously changing and potentially high-risk environments.

Because of the strenuous demands of this assignment, applicants must be in good overall physical, emotional, and mental condition, have a proven track record of excellent judgment and the ability to work well in a team. Flexibility and adaptability is paramount. Candidates must have the ability to handle competing priorities, short deadlines, and constantly changing requirements.

All Executive Protective Agents must successfully complete a physical fitness test for selection and on an annual basis thereafter, to include meeting the following minimum requirements:

Push-ups: minimum of 18 in one minute
Sit-ups: minimum of 27 in one minute
1.5 mile run: 15 min 20 sec or less
300 meter dash: 1 min 08 sec or less
180lb Dummy Drag: 2 minutes or less

Your career at CIA as an Executive Protective Agent begins with a three-year tour of duty primarily located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. You must be willing and able to successfully complete CIA’s Executive Protection Courses, most of which is located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. As an Executive Protective Agent, you will earn overtime and premium pay benefits in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act that will positively impact your overall compensation. After your initial three year tour, you may seek new skills through other opportunities in the Office of Security.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or advanced degree; there is no preferred major or program of study
GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale is preferred, but exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent analytic skills
High levels of trustworthiness, integrity and loyalty to the United States
Excellent teamwork and decision making skills
Proven ability as an innovative, dedicated, and professional officer
Superior leadership, interpersonal, communication, representational, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to tactfully negotiate difficult situations
Proven sound judgement and attention to detail
Flexible and committed to learning and utilizing new skills
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Must be able to work overtime, night shifts, holidays and weekends, as well as frequently travel domestically and overseas
Must be able to obtain medical clearance for unrestricted overseas travel
Ability to meet the minimum requirements for joining CIA, including U.S. citizenship and a background investigation
Desired Qualifications
Military, security, or law enforcement experience
Professional experience in physical security, personnel security, and cyber protection disciplines
